Elohim, having of old spoken in many portions and many ways to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has appointed heir of all, through whom also He made the ages, who being the brightness of the esteem and the exact representation of His substance, and sustaining all by the word of His power, having made a cleansing of our sins through Himself, sat down at the right hand of the Greatness on high, having become so much better than the messengers, as He has inherited a more excellent Name than them.
For to which of the messengers did He ever say, "You are My Son, today I have brought You forth"? And again, "I shall be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son"?
And when He again brings the first-born into the world, He says, "Let all the messengers of Elohim do reverence to Him."
And of the messengers indeed He says, ". who is making His messengers spirits and His servants a flame of fire." Hebrews 1:1-7.
This passage of scripture reveals part of the life and ministry of Jesus. It also says that there are spirit beings who worship and reverence Him and who have definite and specific tasks today. Part of their duties includes looking after us!
Angels are real! Many other people and I have seen some on occasions, not that we go looking for them in that sense which that is foolhardy, but they are real nevertheless.
Angels are not necessarily beings with wings wearing halos on their heads. It times they look like ordinary human beings and the bible says that we could come across their paths without even knowing it. See Hebrews 13:2. This page is designed to give you a scriptural listing of angels so that you will be better informed and able to conduct your own research into the topics of angelology and demonology, found elsewhere on this web site.

Angels in the bible |
|
When studying the topic of angels, it is imperative that we do not place too much emphasis on them or give them more than their due. I say this because in some places people who profess to be Christians all but worship them. They address prayers to the saints, to angels and to other human beings such as Jesus' mother, Mary. She is a wonderful woman but is nevertheless a woman and although the mother of Jesus, was just as much a woman as your own mother and my own mother. Please give these people their rightful due, but do not worship them or pray to them as this is contrary to the word of God.
In this light, angels are truly wonderful beings, who need to be respected and treated with absolute respect and courtesy, but are not and never will be deity.
Their role is very important. In fact the bible makes at least 273 references to angles in some 34 books. The following lists share pertinent information about them.

Their Personal Ministry To Believers At death |
|
Angels also have a ministry to believers at the time of their death. Should Jesus not return before our lives are finished on the earth, it is quite likely that at least one angel... your guardian angel... will be there to help you. In Luke 16:22, Jesus said that when the poor man died, he was carried by the angels to Abraham's Bosom.
That was before Calvary of course and when we pass on, we leave our bodies to be present with the Lord. Paul said-
We know that if the life we live here on earth is ever taken down like a tent, we still have a building from God. It is an eternal house in heaven that isn't made by human hands.
In our present tent-like existence we sigh, since we long to put on the house we will have in heaven.
After we have put it on, we won't be naked.
While we are in this tent, we sigh. We feel distressed because we don't want to take off the tent, but we do want to put on the eternal house. Then {eternal} life will put an end to our mortal existence.
God has prepared us for this and has given us his Spirit to guarantee it.
So we are always confident. We know that as long as we are living in these bodies, we are living away from the Lord.
Indeed, our lives are guided by faith, not by sight.
We are confident and prefer to live away from this body and to live with the Lord.
Whether we live in the body or move out of it, our goal is to be pleasing to him.
All of us must appear in front of Christ's judgment seat. Then all people will receive what they deserve for the good or evil they have done while living in their bodies. 2 Corinthians 5:1-10.
It is very possible therefore that angels still have a personal ministry to believers at the point of death... a comforting thought to many people.
Angels Execute Judgements Of God
 |
Angels Execute The Judgements Of God |
|
We know that God is righteous and just and that He is a Holy God who does not tolerate sin. He is not a vindictive and cruel deity whose anger must be appeased in some way to prevent punishment. In that light, His judgement and execution of punishment for sin has already been meted out at Calvary. Isaiah 53 is a good example.
There is however a good aspect of judgement. The word Judgement is Mishpāṭ and it refers to the making of a verdict that may or may not be favourable, depending on where the individual stands.
It is a judicial pronunciation or the issuing of a sentence or formal decree that can pronounce punishment for wrong doing, or the bestowing of a benefit or reward on another person.
It therefore relates to ordinances, laws, manners and customs, ceremonies and the like and is usually reserved for those in positions of authority.
When a judge pronounces sentence, it is then carried out by other appropriate authorized persons. In this instance, God's judgements are made and His holy angels fulfil His commands as seen below.

They judged the Sodomites

Genesis 19:13

They judged the Egyptians

Angels In The Book Of Revelation

Angels In The Book Of Revelation |
|
There is much activity of angels in end time events. There is much and often unnecessary debate over these matters and it is not my intention here to make comment other than share my personal beliefs and expectations. I am convinced that Jesus will return very soon... most probably in my lifetime.
I also believe in the catching away of the Church, or, the Rapture, in which the redeemed of the Lord... the blood washed saints of God will leave planet earth. Once they do, the tribulation period will begin. My understanding is that those of us who are born again will not be in it! I also believe that Jesus will return in bodily form to earth and establish Kingdom rule that will be multi-faceted.
My objective here is not to enter into further discussion on such matters, but to present a list from the bible itself and allow you to seek the Lord for yourself. Here is a list of angelic activity as seen in the Book of Revelation.

The Angel Of The LORD |
|
in the Old Testament, people had encounters with The Angel Of The LORD. I sometimes think that the being they met was in fact, Jesus Himself. One significant and seemingly common experience was the reaction these people had when they saw this angel. We see reference to how the person fell down in fear, needing reassurance that all was well. They fearfully said in essence, I just saw God, wondering how they lived!
I have had a couple of experiences along these lines and assure you that it is indeed an awesome thing.
The following is a list of ten such recorded encounters.

The angel wrestled with Jacob

Genesis 32:24-30 |

He redeemed Jacob from all evil

 |
Psalm 91 |
|
In closing, I share a wonderful psalm with you that is God's commitment to you. It is His promise to protect you, care for you, shelter you and provide all that is necessary for your welfare and future.
I hope that you have been blessed and encouraged during your visit with us and, if you do not yet know what it is like to enjoy the remarkably wonderful relationship with God that I share on this web site, then please make a decision today. Right now, ask God to word the miracle you need in your life and invite Jesus into your life. He knows what is in your heart, so tell Him about it and accept the free gift of salvation today.
Whoever lives under the shelter of the Most High will remain in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD, "You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." He is the one who will rescue you from hunters' traps and from deadly plagues. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor.
You do not need to fear terrors of the night, arrows that fly during the day, plagues that roam the dark, epidemics that strike at noon. They will not come near you, even though a thousand may fall dead beside you or ten thousand at your right side.
You only have to look with your eyes to see the punishment of wicked people.
You, O Lord, are my refuge! You have made the Most High your home. No harm will come to you. No sickness will come near your house.
He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways.
They will carry you in their hands so that you never hit your foot against a rock.
You will step on lions and cobras. You will trample young lions and snakes.
Because you love me, I will rescue you.
I will protect you because you know my name.
When you call to me, I will answer you.
I will be with you when you are in trouble.
I will save you and honor you.
I will satisfy you with a long life.
I will show you how I will save you.
